Raptor Rescue & Research

Under strict federal and state permits, the Earth Conservation Corps conducts educational programs with non-releasable birds of prey to teach Corps members, school children, and volunteers about pollution, adaptations, habitats, and food chains. “Despite the Anacostia River’s pollution problems, water quality has improved enough to support a growing population of birds of prey”.

We are known for our program to restore the bald eagle as a nesting resident of our Nations’s Capital. Today three pairs of Bald Eagles nest and raise their young along the Anacostia River. Liberty and Justice reside in a nest 110 feet up an oak tree at the Metropolitan Police Academy. (Watch the birds on EagleCam.)
