Wood Ducks are cavity nesters and due to habitat loss the species has suffered. Earth Conservation Corps teamed up with the Maryland Wood Duck Initiative to create a monitoring program on the Anacostia. The point of this program is to create habitat. These shy ducks use the boxes to nest. We want to create an awareness of the importance of wetlands!!!
Earth Conservation Corps is taking groups out on the river once a month for observation. We are providing citizen science opportunities for students and members of our community.
